Parachute cord (also paracord or 550 cord) is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of US parachutes during World War II. 
降落傘繩（或稱傘繩或550繩）是一種質輕的多股內芯與外織層並且於二戰時應用在降落傘上的編織尼龍繩

Once in the field, paratroopers found this cord useful for many other tasks. 
在戰場上，傘兵們發現降落傘繩還有其他的應用方式。

It is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians. 
如今傘繩已經是在軍用與民用都具有多種用途的物品了。

This versatile cord was even used by astronauts during STS-82, the eighty-second Space Shuttle mission, to repair the Hubble Space Telescope.
這種多用途的傘繩甚至使用在太空任務當中，用來修理哈伯太空望遠鏡。

The braided sheath has a high number of interwoven strands for its size, giving it a relatively smooth texture.
